Makarska (about 14,000 inhabitants) is located in the heart of Dalmatia, at the crossroads of all the ancient roads of Croatia. Makarska is the main town of the Riviera, it stands at the foot of the mountain range of Biokovo. The main promenade - Marineta - surrounded by rows of palm trees, under which the endless line of cafes. Marineta and the old town, spread out around the port, resemble an ancient theater. The center of the old town is the square A. Kacic-Miosic on which the church of St. Mark was built in the XVIII century.
In the south-east of the Old Town in the former wine cellars of the Franciscan monastery (more than 500 years old) is the Malokoloski Museum.
МMakarska is at once the cultural, economic, sports and tourist center of Croatia. Today, the old part of the city is formed by buildings built in the traditional Mediterranean style.
