Yacht anchorages in Abona Bay

Abona Bay (Bahia de Abona) is located on the south-east coast of Tenerife, 20 miles south-west of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Anchoring in the bay is possible only in calm weather, because with the dominant north-east winds there is always a wave. Anchor at a depth of 5-10 meters on the sandy bottom holds well.

The surrounding views are not very good either - there are a huge number of wind turbines around. However, if the weather permits, it is still worth stopping here to visit one of the very curious sights of the island - the Valley of the Leprosy and Leprosarium. It is located 1.2 km south-west of the south shore of the bay.
