Marmaris - Fethie

Marmaris - Fethie - a part of the Mediterranean coast of Turkey. The length of this coast is about 180 nautical miles. The coast is indented with many bays where yachts can find shelter in bad weather. On this coast there are large bays: Marmaris, Aksaz and Fethiye and several smaller bays. Aksaz Bay is not accessible to yachts because Turkish Navy has base here.

From a historical point of view the most interesting cities are Marmaris and Fethiye whose history goes back thousands of years but today they are large resort centers. Nevertheless they have preserved historical and cultural sights that should not be ignored. It is no less interesting to visit the valley of the Dalyan River.

The region has good transport accessibility as it has two major International Airports: Marmaris and Dalaman.

Marmaris is the yachting capital of Turkey. There are several yacht marinas in Marmaris the largest of which is Netsel Marina. It is base to many charter companies that offering crewed and bareboat yachts for rent. Among yachtsmen Marmaris is also known for the popular international amateur regatta Marmaris International Race Week which is held annually in the first week of November. The regatta is popular in particular, because you can participate in it on yachts rented from charter companies.

No less popular among yachtsmen is the Fethiye Bay whose yachting centers are the cities of Gocek and Fethiye. The amazing natural formation of Skopea Limani near the town of Göcek is not to be missed.
