Of all the cultural heritage of the Lycians, architectural monuments are particularly well-preserved. The Lycian monuments are tombstones, most of them carved in natural rock. Sometimes they are examples of the Greek, specifically Ionian style, sometimes imitations of the wooden structures characteristic of Lycia. All the sculptures are imbued with the spirit of true Greek art. The Lycians were armed with daggers and curved swords. The Lycians were engaged in agriculture; the country was quite fertile, producing wine, bread, saffron and other products of Asia Minor.
