Fethie Attractions

For yachtsmen in Fethiye is interesting primarily Esse Marina which is based many charter companies providing bareboat and yachts for rent. However, if you have a few free hours there are few places in Fethiye to visit.

Modern Fethiye is built on the ancient Greek town of Telmessos. Earthquakes in 1857 and 1957 destroyed almost all the ancient buildings of the Fethiye area.

Fethiye has the remains of an ancient Roman theater, which is now being restored.

From the Knight’s Castle of the 15th century there were also practically remains of ruins, interesting mainly to specialists of archaeologists.

On the mountainside near the city you can see the well-preserved Lycian tombs carved into the rocks. The main and largest tomb is the tomb of Amintas on the wall of which the Greece inscription Amyntas son of Hermagios has been preserved. Experts believe that Amintas was one of the rulers of the ancient city of Telmessos.
