Malta Island

Malta Island is the largest of the three islands that include to Maltese Archipelago (Republic of Malta). Malta is located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea exactly south of Italy and north of Libya.

The landscape of Malta is characterized by rolling hills and terraced fields. Most of the surface is limestone plateaus. In the north the coasts are smooth, in the south the shores are steep and cliffy. There are several bays on the north-east coast, the largest of which is Grand Harbor. Valletta, the capital of Malta, is located around it. The Grand Harbour has Malta's port and several yacht marinas. The south-west coast of the island is smooth with rocky steep shores. Several bays where yachts can be anchored are in the north-west and south-east of Malta.
