Leros Island is located in the northern part of the Dodecanese archipelago between the islands of Kalymnos and Lipsi, 20 miles west of the Turkish coast.
Leros is a small island, 7.5 miles long and 3.5 miles wide. It stretches from north-west to south-east. The coastline is very indented, about 40 miles long, with many large and small bays that provide shelter for yachts in all winds.
Most of the population of the island lives in Lakki and in three large, connected by road to each other villages: Platanos, the capital of the island, Agia Marina, the second port of the island and Panteli.
The main port of Leros island is Lakki. The island has two marinas, several fishports and many anchorages.
In general, Leros is a very interesting island for visiting by yacht, especially when you consider that there is not such an influx of tourists as, on Rhodes or Kos, and the history and attractions of Leros deserve the greatest attention.
