/ Home / Mediterranian / Croatia / Zadar - Rijeka / Losinj Island / Mali Losinj Attractions

The town is immersed in subtropical greenery, and the houses of the old center, clinging to the narrow bay, are painted in warm orange and peach colors. The streets are lined with slender cypresses and sprawling palms, while blooming bougainvillea adorn the walls of homes in Mali Losinj.

Mali Losinj lives a cheerful and busy life, dozens of small cafes and restaurants hospitably open their doors to numerous guests, and the beauty of the surrounding nature only emphasizes the festive atmosphere of this nice and joyful place.

Walk around Mali Losinj

The old town lies on the shores of a narrow fjord-like bay at the beginning of which is the Republika Hrvatske Square with the fountain, an exact copy of the one in Cres. The construction of the fountain marked the end of the water supply from Lake Vrassko on Cres island in 1960. Around the square there are a lot of stores and restaurants.

A walk along the waterfront of Riva Losinjsih Kapetana will be a real pleasure for lovers of Mediterranean flavor. It is lavishly decorated with palm trees, flowers and cacti, and its restaurants offer the most exquisite seaside cuisine.

The bay is always filled with snow-white yachts and no wonder because Mali Losinj has always been home to captains, sailors, pirates and adventurers. It is to these salted sea wolves the Church of St. Martin is dedicated, in the cemetery of which many of them found their last resting place.

If you start walking up the main street of Brace Vidulica from the Republic Square, you will get to the Cathedral Church of the Nativity Virgin Mary (crkva Rodenja Marijina), where you can admire the paintings of Venetian artists and a unique crucifix by Bartolameo Ferrari.

The Promenade of Mali - Veli Losinj. In the local House of Culture you can see a wonderful collection of paintings, painstakingly collected over the years by the poet Andro Vid Michic and doctor Juseppe Piperata.

From Mali Losinj to Veli Losinj there is a wonderful waterfront - a walkway along the beach itself in the shade of fluffy pine trees. It will take you no more than an hour for a leisurely walk, and on the way you can swim on the most picturesque beach platforms surrounded by the teeth of fanciful rocks.
