Novigrad is one of the small old towns on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula. It is located about nine miles south of the town of Umag and seven miles north of Porec.
Built on a peninsula between two bays, the town was originally a Byzantine settlement, later surviving many conquerors until it became part of the Republic of Venice by 1270. Today the town lives mostly on agriculture and tourism and has retained much of its medieval layout with narrow winding streets and significant remnants of walls and fortifications.
The city has two yacht marinas - Laguna Novigrad and Nautica Novigrad. In addition, yachts can be moored on the inner side of the west breakwater, as well as stand behind it on one of the buoys or their own anchor.
