Frigate Island is located in the south of Union Island.
The mooring buoys are located on the west side of small Frigate Island. The buoys are free. They are set up here to protect from anchoring seaweed, which the many sea turtles feed on. You can also be anchored here, choosing sandy areas of the bottom. The anchor holds well. There are no waves when the easterly winds dominate. When the wind goes to the south, there is a small swell.
Frigate Island is connected to Union Island by a suspension bridge.
In the northern part of Frigate Island there is a Kite School on a catamaran moored to the shore. There is also a bar there.
Ashton Lagoon has great conditions for kite surfing.
The village of Ashton is about a 30 minute walk from the kite school, where you can keep the dinghy. You can also get to the village by dinghy. There is a mini-market in the village. For serious resupply it is better to stop in Clifton.
