Mayreau is a small island in the central of Grenadines archipelago, 31 miles south-south-west of Saint Vincent. Immediately east of Mayreau are Tobago Reefs (Tobago Cays), an archipelago of five small islands and extensive coral reefs. The reefs - Petit Rameau, Petit Bateau, Baradal, Petit Tabac and Jamesby - are popular tourist destinations.
There are a number of anchorages and mooring buoys off Mayreau Island and among the islets and reefs of the Tobago Archipelago.
Tobago's reefs are now a key element of the marine park administered by the Government of Saint Vincent and Grenadines. The marine park consists of a 5.7-square-kilometer sand-bottomed lagoon that covers five reefs, inhabited Mayreau Island, and the 4-kilometer-long Horseshoe Reef.
