Dominica Island

Dominica, officially called the Commonwealth of Dominica, is a state on the island of the same name in the group of the Windward Islands in the Caribbean Sea. Guadeloupe is to the north-west of Dominica, Martinique is to the south-east. The capital of Dominica is the city of Roseau.

Dominica is an island of volcanic origin. It is mountainous and there are several volcanoes. The highest of them, Diabloten (1447 m), is also the highest point on the island. Now there are no active volcanoes on Dominica, but the volcanic activity is manifested in the form of geysers, hot springs and small lakes with boiling water. On the coast, there are beaches with black and yellow sand.

The coastline is smooth. There are no yacht marinas. Yachts can be anchored or moored at buoys on the leeward (west) side of the island.
