Iguana Island is only a mile and a half boat trip from Cayo Largo Marina. Most tourists in Cayo Largo want to see the little dragon - iguanas. The ordinary iguana, or green iguana, is a large herbivorous lizard of the iguana family that lives an arboreal lifestyle during the day.
There are several daily excursions to Iguana Island from the Cayo Largo marina. However, experienced yachtsmen can also go there on their own yacht or dinghy.
The main difficulty of this short trip on your yacht is to pass the narrow, shallow strait between the islands in the middle of the trip. It is recommended to pass it at high tide. The fairway in the strait is marked with milestones (these are ordinary sticks without any signs or coloring). It is a little reassuring that the bottom of the strait is muddy and grounding as a rule does not threaten to damage the yacht
On the island of Iguana there is a small wooden pier for 2-3 yachts, where you can moor.
Iguanas here are not afraid of people, they come directly to the pier and eat from your hands. Keep in mind that iguanas are herbivores and eat leaves, shoots and fruits of various plants.
