Juventud (Isla de la Juventud) is the second largest island of the Cuban archipelago, called Pinos until 1978. It is located 50 km from the south coast of the island of Cuba in the west of the Los Canarreos archipelago.
The island's capital, Nueva Gerona, is located in the north of Isla de la Juventud, between the two hills of the Sierra de Caballos and Las Casas, three kilometers from the mouth of the Rio Casas River, a navigable gateway to the Caribbean Sea.
Isla de la Juventud has a marina - Marlin Marina El Colony, located in the west of the island in the Bay of Siguanea (Ensenada de Siguanea) and several anchorages available to yachts.
Charter yachts do not frequent visits to Isla de la Juventud, as the nearest yacht charter place, Cientfuegos, is quite far away (130 miles in a straight line).
