Yacht anchorage in Murdeira Bay

Murdeira Bay (Baia da Murdeira) is located on the west coast of the island of Sal, 5 miles south of the port of Palmeira.

Usually yachts are anchored in the north-western part of the bay under the mountain at a depth of 5-10 meters. The bottom is sand, stones, corals. The anchor holds well on the sand. The bay shelters yachts well from the waves caused by the dominant north-easterly trade winds.

Avoid anchoring in the central part of the bay, where it is forbidden. It is said that cables are laid there.
