Kash in Turkish means eyebrow. Kas - a small town with white houses surrounded by greenery and flowers, going down the narrow streets to the sea from the mountains surrounding the bay.
In the past Kas was one of the important trading center of ancient Lycia. Today in Kas you can see the well-preserved amphitheater of the first century BC. The amphitheater consists of 26 rows and accommodates 3 thousand spectators.
From the top step of the amphitheater there is a beautiful view to the city and sea. On the main street of Kas are preserved Lycian tomb called the Tomb of the Lion because of the lion's muzzles protruding from the sides.
Date of construction of the tomb is estimated as the 4th century BC.
Kas is one of the diving centers in Turkey. About 15 diving spots are in its surroundings. Among them are spots with beautiful underwater flora and fauna, spots with the remains of ancient civilizations, submerged ships, airplanes of the Second World War, etc. The most famous among these places is Cape Uluburun, where in 1982 was found a Phoenician ship that sank at the end of the fourteenth century BC. Another popular diving spot is the Dakota C-47 aircraft that sank during World War II.
It is located at a depth of twenty meters and is almost always surrounded by sea turtles mackerel barracuda and other wildlife.
Over Kas you can fly on a paraglider from a mountain height of more than 1000 m located behind the city.
