San Nicola Arcella bay is located on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, 95 miles north of the Strait of Messina.
In summer all the buoys in the bay are occupied by hotel guests and local boats. Mooring a yacht at a buoy costs about 50 euros per day, but they say this includes a tender service, i.e. you will be transferred from the yacht to the shore and back no extra charge. A few yachts may be anchored outside the buoy area at depths of 5-10 meters on the sand. The anchorage is protected only from south and east winds.
Half a kilometer east of the beach on a cliff is located the old town of San Nicola Arcella.
