Port Zakynthos is located on the north-east coast, six and a half miles from the eastern tip of the island.
The port of Zakynthos provides good shelter for yachts from the prevailing north and north-west winds, but with strong winds from the south, a nasty wave enters into the harbor.
Yachts can be moored with their stern or bow to the north breakwater at its root between the ferry pier and the west waterfront. Depths range from 3 meters at the ferry pier to 2 meters at the root of the breakwater. Anchor at 6-7m holds well on the clay bottom. There is electricity and water on the north breakwater.
Also, you can be moored at the northern part of the west waterfront. The depths here are about 2.5-3 meters, except for the northernmost corner of the harbor, where the depths are less than a meter.
To the south of the port is another Greek long construction site - the unfinished yacht marina. Depths at the north-west pier, where you can moor stern or bow to the pier at your own anchor, are 2.5-4.5 meters. There are no services in the marina.
There are many bars, taverns, stores in the city.
