Makrys Gailos bay is located on the north-east coast of Zakynthos 3.5 miles from the northern tip of the island. The cove is unnamed on the maps, so we will use the name of the beach to refer to it.
Yachts can be anchored all around the bay at depths of 5-10 meters. The bottom is sand and some seaweed. Holding is good on the sand. The bay is open to the north and with the prevailing north-westerly winds it is not very suitable for anchorage.
There are several caves on the west shore of the bay. The south-west shore of the bay is an equipped sandy beach. There are several taverns on the west shore of the bay.
