Near Murtos there are several small islets under the common name of Sivota. Between them there are many yachts anchorages. In any wind direction you can find a suitable anchorage. This is the ideal place for the first overnight anchorage, for those who are sailing by charter yacht rented in Gouvia Marina on Corfu towards Lefkas. It is 23 miles away from Gouvia Marina. After checking charter yacht at Saturday and strolling through old Corfu, you will find yourself on Sunday in a quiet place with perfect clear water.

Agios Nikolaos Island

If you can't find a berth for your boat on the waterfront or in the harbor of Mourtos (which is possible, because many of those who rent yachts in Corfu, go there), or you prefer to anchorage there, you can find an anchorage in the channel between the mainland and the nearest island of St. Nicholas.

Yachts at St. Nicholas Island

The best and most sheltered place is a small cove at the northeast end of the island. Now it is equipped bow and stern moorings, so yachts should anchor farther away. Depths in the center of the channel are 6.0 - 9.0 m. Some yachts take lines ashore. Further to south, the depths in the channel decrease to 2 m. Note that this channel is used by numerous water cabs, small tourist boats, and other watercrafts that take tourists from Murtos to the beaches in the south and back. Traffic is heaviest in the morning and evening. The shelter here is good from the prevailing north-westerly winds, but there can be some swell.

Monastery Bay

An alternative anchorage for yachts is Monastery Bay, half a mile north-west of Murtos, where there is a small beach, a large entertainment complex and a tavern. Anchor in depths of 5.0 - 6.0 meters you can drop anywhere there is a free space.

Holding is good in sand, silt and seaweed. Shelter for yachts is good from the prevailing north-west winds, but the bay is open to south-west winds. If you see a lot of yachts moored on the long pontoon located 50 meters from the entertainment complex, it possible going elsewhere, because it means nightclub music will rumble until the early of the morning. The depths on this pontoon, which is intended for customers of the Torre E Mare entertainment complex, are about 2.0 to 2.25 meters, but the inner 25 to 30 meters is unusable because of the large concrete pipes on the bottom. The pontoon does not have enough mooring rope attachment points.

Sand Bar Bay

There are two more anchorages west of Sivota Island, which are actively used by yachtsmen. They lie on either side of the sandbar that connects Mavros Notos with the mainland.

Both anchorages are used at the Neilson Hotel, which stands on shore, but it is possible to anchor here away from the water sports activities of Neilson Hotel customers. Unfortunately, these beautiful anchorages are no longer the idyllic anchorages they once were and you won't get any peace here during high season.

In 2013, the Neilson Hotel supplied a pontoon for its vessels. Yachts can use it on weekdays. You must contact the Neilson Hotel on VHF channel 74 for permission. Keep in mind that the pontoon is a training base for the school for learning to sail. Also, many water skiers skate directly in front of it, creating noise and waves. The depths along the pontoon are just over 2.0 meters in most places. Services at the adjacent hotel are not available for yachts and the pontoon gate to the shore may be closed late at night. No other bars or restaurants are available in the area. You will have to pay about € 10 per night.
