The yacht marina Preveza is located on the Greek mainland in the Ionian Sea at the entrance to the large Amvrakikos bay, seven miles northeast of the northern tip of Lefkada.
The city yacht marina Preveza is located in the N part of the harbor. Marina has 300 berths for yachts on the water at 5 piers. There is water and electricity on the piers (220-380 V, 120 amperes). The marina has showers and toilets, minimarket, playground, cafe, bar, restaurant, car rental, washing machines and a dryer.
City seafront
The southern section of the seafront begins near the gray octagonal building (formerly a nightclub) and ends at a small pier near half-built marina. The beginning section from the octagonal building to the 8th lamp post is shallow (less than 1.5 m); yachts can moor stern or bow for the next 200 meters, although there is a protruding shoal in this section, which should be avoided. Depths here are mostly 2.5 to 3.0 meters.
Further to N, there is a wide pier where fishing boats are stationed and a section of 100 meters of the embankment is painted with yellow markings, which are intended for their use. From here the next 500 meters to the north are reserved for yachts. Depths along this section are 5.0 - 8.0 meters on the embankment. The anchor should be dropped at 10.0-15.0 meters at the southern end of the section and 8.0-10.0 at the northern end. Therefore, yachts tend to lag at the southern end of the section and stern or bow at the northern end of the section.
The north end of the section is more popular with yachtsmen because it is closer to taverns and bars and has better depths for anchoring, as well as providing better shelter from the north-west breezes that often blow on the waterfront at night. However, it is noisier and more crowded. There are several bollards along the waterfront and many stainless steel mooring rings. They are set a meter or so away from the waterfront and are not easily seen when mooring. The pier is quite high, so yachts with low freeboard may prefer to moor, if there is berth, on the lower section of the quay. It is identified by the long green railings.
It should be noted, at the southern end of this section has a drainage system through which sometimes discharges untreated sewage - so do not become here for those who have a sensitive sense of smell!
Shelter on the waterfront is good from the prevailing north-westerly winds, although there may be some ripples in the afternoon. In addition, there can be overnight westerly wind that blows from the mountains. This is usually not too uncomfortable if there are no fresh easterly winds to add to it. The anchor holds well along the entire waterfront in dense silt.
Note: The waterfront, of course, is not a good choice in strong north-easterly winds. Then it is better to go to Cleopatra Yacht Marina or anchor at the boatyard on the side of Aktion or look for sheltered anchorages further in the bay.
Port fees (for 10m yachts): at the south quay (without facilities) 6,2 €, at the north quay (water + electricity) approx. 12 €.
