Ayios Nikolaos Bay or Avlaimonas is located on the east coast of Kythira Island.
In St. Nicholas Bay, there are three choices for mooring the yacht. First, by anchoring at a depth of 5-7 meters and stretching the long end to the small breakwater of Avlaimonas village. If possible moor close to the eastern end of the breakwater where the red entrance light is installed. Second, in the middle of the bay south-west of the breakwater at a depth of 8-13 meters. Third, half a mile west of the village opposite the large sandy beach at depths of 5-8 meters. Everywhere the bottom is sandy with patches of seaweed. Holding is good.
The anchorage at St. Nicholas Bay provides good shelter for yachts from northerly and westerly winds, but in southerly winds you cannot anchored here.
There are several taverns on shore in the village of Avlaimonas. There are no stores.
