Yacht anchorage off Nikoyria Island

Yacht anchorage at the small island of Nikoyria is located off the north-west coast of Amorgos, about midway between the harbors of Katapola and Aegiali.

Usually yachts are anchored in front of the church at a depth of 5-10 m on the sandy bottom. Holding is good, but you have to choose a sandy area of the bottom. The water here is very clean. The anchorage off Nicuria Island is the most sheltered from the prevailing winds off Amorgos. When Meltemi blows, there are strong gusts of wind.

The depths in the narrow channel between Nikuria and Amorgos, despite its name Kakoperato (bad passage), are at least 5 meters and yachts pass it without problems.
