Fogo (Fogo means "fire, flame") is an island in the Republic of Cape Verde. Fogo is part of the leeward group of islands of the Cape Verdean archipelago. On the island is an active volcano Fogo. The island has an area of 476 square kilometers and a population of 37,071. Fogo Island is located 30 miles west of Santiago Island. The volcano last erupted in November 2014.
The island's coastline is smooth, there are no enclosed bays. It is possible to anchored on the leeward side (west) of the island, particularly at Sao Filipe. On the Navionics maps the port is marked as Vale de Cavaleiros.
