The north coast of Sicily stretches from Cape San Vito (SanVito Lo Capo) in the west to Cape Torre Faro in the east. The coastline of the northern coast of Sicily is about 200 miles long. The coastline is smooth, without enclosed bays. The coasts are primarily rocky. There are enough yacht marinas on the north coast to make traveling along it by yacht without overnight crossings.

On the north coast of Sicily there are several marinas where charter companies are based. These are Palermo, Santa Agata, and Milazzo. Santa Agata and Milazzo are the most suitable start and finish points for a charter yacht trip around the Lipari Islands.

At the western end of the northern coast is located the capital of Sicily, Palermo. The city is literally made up of attractions. There are also many smaller towns on the north coast that are of historical and sightseeing interest.

There is an international airport in Palermo. Palermo is connected by ferry to the Italian mainland and many islands.
