The town of Spetses is located on the shore of Baltiza Bay in the north-east of the island. It is the only place on the island where a yacht can be moored to a pier.
The harbor is almost always crowded with yachts, tour boats and small local boats during the season. The bottom is littered and as a result anchor hooking is very frequent. The inner harbor is the most sheltered, but it is almost impossible to find available mooring space there, except at the beginning or end of the season.
The most comfortable mooring place for the yacht is the yacht club pier in the middle of the eastern shore of the bay. There the mooring is on a stationary mooring line with the stern of the yacht to the pier. There is water and electricity on the pier.
Sometimes it is possible to find a mooring place with the bow or stern of the yacht next to the fuel pier. Alternatively, it is possible to stay for short periods of time (e.g. a quick trip ashore) at the fuel pier itself, with the permission of the gas station staff. The owner of the fuel pier will charge a fee of 25 euros if you stay there overnight. Water and electricity are available at the waterfront.
Both the west and east shores of the outer harbor are full of rocks, so the only option here is to anchor at a depth of 4-5 meters and a long stretch to shore where there are lots of places to fix lines. The anchor does not always hold well.
Avoid the old harbor on weekends, as boats from Athens will surround you and you won't always to leave your spot until Monday.
