Iz Island is located six miles south-west of Zadar ( 15 miles by sea) between the larger islands of Ugljan and Dugi otok. Although it is one of the smaller islands just under seven miles long and 1.5 miles wide, it has a yacht marina, several small piers where yachts can be moored to the pier and a few anchorages on different sides of the island. There are no natural water sources on the island, so water is scarce in summer. Water is available for yachts only in the marina.
There are several settlements on Iz island, the largest of which are Veli Iz, Mali Iz, Makovac and Brsanj. They are visited by ferries from Zadar. There are no beaches on the island of Iz, that to some extent limits tourism and makes the island relatively unspoiled.
The island of Iz is especially known for its pottery, which is a long tradition in both main villages Veli Iz and Mali Iz.
