Kalkan is an old fishing town on the Turkish Mediterranean coast between Kas and Fethiye. There are many historical places in the Kalkan region (for example, Tlos and Kekova) and beautiful beaches, including the famous beaches of Patara and Kapatas.
Kalkan was an important port city of Turkey until the 70s of the last century as the only seaport for the environs. It declined after the construction of the road to Fethie but revived with the development of tourism industry in this region of Turkey.
For yachtsmen, Kalkan is interesting as one of the few safe bays for overnight mooring between Fethie and Fenikе.
