Gulf of Naples (Golfo di Napoli) is a large gulf opening to the south-west in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its boundaries are best defined by the Ischia Island on the west, Visuvius volcano on the north and the Capri Island on the east. From Cape Miseno on the north-west to Cape Campanella on the south-east, the gulf is 18 nautical miles wide. The Gulf of Naples is famous for the beauty of its surroundings and is very rich in wildlife.
Around the Gulf of Naples from north-west to south-east are located the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Baia, the city of Pozzuoli with its Fields of Flegrei, the third largest city in Italy - Naples, the volcano Vesuvius and the excavations of the ancient cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the cities of Torre del Greco and Castellammare di Stabia. In the south-east of the gulf lies the peninsula of Sorrento.
In addition to historical and cultural sites, the Gulf of Naples is interesting for yachtsmen because of its transport accessibility and its possibility to rent a charter yacht for trips to Capri Island, the Ponza Islands and the Flegrin Islands.
