Marmaris Castle
According to Herodotus the Castle was built by the Ionians in 3000 BC. The last rebuilding and reconstruction of the fortress were made in the 17th century by Sultan Suleiman.

Since 1979 conducted restoration work in the Castle to recreate the original form. The fortress has been converted into a museum. There are also cultural events and art exhibitions.
The museum is open daily except Mondays from 8:30 to 12 noon and from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Old Town
Near the Castle hills located the old town. One or two-story small houses with shutters. Narrow streets wind up and down. Arches and doors wrapped in flowers.
Antiquity peeks through the walls. It's easy to imagine how people used to live here.
Ibrahim Agi Mosque
The oldest Ibrahim Agy Mosque, is located in the center of the covered market. It was built in 1788. At the entrance hangs a board indicating the time of the six namazs.
Before entering the mosque a Muslim must wash his hands feet and face. When entering the mosque it is obligatory to take off your shoes.
Waterfront
From the Ataturk monument in the direction of Castle stretches the promenade.
Excursion gulets, water taxes, diving boats. Near old castle there are big sailing yachts which you can rent for a few days. Farther across the bridge begins Netsel Marina.
Many rich people from around the world have chosen Marmaris as a berth for their yachts. It has a beautiful bay, excellent service and repairs, its own stores and restaurants.
Venice
Near Netzel Marina there is an area that the locals call Venice.
A small river flows into the sea. There are numerous bridges, fishing boats, its own embankment with a wooden fence and benches. Along the waterfront are placed beautiful houses and hotels. In the evenings on the bridges fishermen catch fish.
Bar Street
Bar Street is one of the main symbols of bustling youthful Marmaris.
On summer nights, this narrow and ancient street is in the historic center becomes the epicenter of life. It is full of bars, cafes, discotheques and nightclubs, with drunken but friendly tourists mingling between them.
Dancing Fountain
A sign of the city's rapid revival is Youth Square, the centerpiece of which is the Marmaris Singing (Dancing) Fountain.
At the height of the tourist season, there is a light and music show at 21:00 and 22:00. The dancing fountain looks especially beautiful at night against the background of the clock tower.
