Santa Margarita harbor is located on the west shore of the rather large Tigullio Bay just less than two miles north of Portofino and a mile south-west of Rappalo.
Santa Margarita Harbor is sheltered from the south-east by a long breakwater to which transit yachts are moored most often. Depths at the breakwater range from two meters at the root to 12 meters at its northeastern end. Yachts are moored stern or bow to the breakwater at their own anchor.
Another option for mooring a yacht is to moor to one of the eight pontoons in the harbor, although the pontoons are most often filled with local yachts. Some of the pontoons have water and electricity. The harbor is a good shelter for yachts in all winds, but it does come uncomfortably swell in strong easterly winds.
In addition, yachts can be anchored closer to the north shore of the bay at depths of 3-7 meters. The seabed is muddy. Holding is good. This anchorage is not recommended in easterly winds.
