Portofino

Portofino is located on the eastern part of Italy's Ligurian coast, 15 miles east-southeast of Genoa. Once a small fishing village, Portofino was discovered by British and other wealthy European tourists in the late 19th century, and the hills above the tiny port began to fill with elegant villas and hotels catering to Europe's elite.

Today, Portofino's tall fishermen's houses, tightly clustered around its packed harbor, attract tourists from all over the world to this jewel of the Ligurian coast.

Portofino is a deservedly popular stop for yachts cruising along the Ligurian coast. Berths on the waterfront or piers are very expensive during most of the summer months.
