Giulianova is a coastal town and comune in the province of Teramo on the Adriatic coast of Italy. The commune also has the status of a town known as Citta di Giulianova.
Tourism plays a major role in the city's economy. The town is a summer vacation destination for people from major cities such as Rome and Milan, as well as German and French tourists.
Settlement here has existed since prehistoric times. In the 3rd century BC, the Romans founded a colony called Castrum Novum in the vicinity of Giulianova. The local baron Giulio Antonio Acquaviva founded a new town on a hill near the old one in 1471, naming it Giulia. It was an interesting example of an ideal Renaissance city, applying the theory of the most prominent architects of the time, such as Leon Battista Alberti and Francesco Di Giorgio Martini, with whose cultural environment he was in contact.
The city has a yacht marina.
